AC charging stations transfer the power to the built-in inverter in the electric vehicle. The inverter converts the alternating current from the charging station into direct current and charges the battery with the power allowed by it. This type of station has the capability of charging with single-phase and three-phase current. Every single ABB AC charging station has a built-in electricity meter, Wi-Fi and LAN internet connectivity, and Bluetooth for connecting to a phone.
The ChargerSync application is used to monitor the charging process, unlock and lock the station, and adjust the charging power.
There is an option for additional features, such as an RFID card for user identification, a 4G modem for cases where there is no Wi-Fi connection, along with a LAN cable and a built-in EV charging cable, for the ultimate convenience of the electric vehicle owner.
Slow-charging stations are of utmost importance for the city. Electric vehicle owners can leave their car to charge overnight and have it fully charged in the morning.
What is the difference between AC and DC charging?
The AC charger delivers alternating current to an onboard inverter in the vehicle, which charges the electric vehicle's battery. To optimize the cost of an electric vehicle, manufacturers reduce the power of the onboard inverter. This limits the power supplied to the battery and consequently extends the charging time. For this reason, faster charging can be achieved by using direct current chargers.
DC charging delivers energy directly to the vehicle's battery without the need for an inverter built into the electric vehicle.
